EXTENSION, MURRAYFIELD, EDINBURGH
We constructed this extension in two stages to the existing building, to an architects drawings and specifications, using a steel frame designed to fit around old walnut and birch trees. The resulting rooms are sympathetic to the surrounding natural environment. The first stage was a conservatory on the first floor mounted on the steel frame. A couple of years later the client decided to proceed with the ground floor extension/diningroom.
Both projects were very interesting and we are delighted to say that the client was extremely happy.
SOLID OAK STAIRCASE. BLACKHALL, EDINBURGH
The client’s brief was to build a solid oak staircase for a fixed budget. We kept the project within the budget and the photos of the staircase illustrate the result.
The initial problem with the project was reated to the old subsidence, where all walls and floors uneven. This made the job challenging as the manufacture of the new oak staircase required to be square and true.
The cast iron spindles were cast to our specifications after the structural stair was reinstated.
